ROD SUSPENSION INSULATION SYSTEM GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS

Section 07200 - Building Insulation
Part 1.00 - General 1.01 Description
A. Work included: Building insulation required includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

  1. Faced insulation plus back-fill insulation below the building roof, between and beneath the purlins.

1.02 Product Handling:

A. Protection: Deliver all materials to the job site and store in a safe dry place with all labels intact and legible at time of installation. Use all means necessary to protect building insulation materials before, during, and after installation and to protect the installed work and materials of all other trades. Use all means necessary to protect flooring of building from damage by scaffolding or lifts.

Part 2.00 Products / 2.01 Building Insulation

A. General:
  1. Insulation shall be ROD Suspension roof and wall insulation for metal buildings.
  2. All required insulation hardware shall be provided as a part of both roof and wall insulation system.
  3. The system shall have an installed U-value of at 75 degrees F mean temperature, summer design and a U-value of at 45 degrees F mean temperature, winter design Insulation system shall be certified as tested in accordance with ASTM CZ36. Vapor barrier shall be .02 perm.
B. Roof:
  1. Insulation for the roof shall meet the property requirements of Federal Specification HH-I-558B, and shall be in one or two layers:
    1. The first insulation layer shall be metal budding insulation having an R value of ___ faced with ___. The composite product shall have a 20 flame spread rating and a 50 smoke development rating as tested in accordance with ASTM E96.
    2. The second insulation layer shall be metal budding insulation having an R-value of unfaced, with a 20 flame spread rating and a 20 smoke developed rating, as tested m accordance with ASTM E84-80.
  2. Attaching hardware for roof insulation shall include
    1. 1-1/4" Galvanized white powder coated enameled roller tubes 10' long for attachment to purlins coordinated to wide rolls of faced insulation);
    2. Type- purlin clips, for installation of roller rods on type purlins;

Part 3.00 - Execution 3.01 General:

A. Inspection:
  1. Prior to all work of this section, carefully inspect installed work of other trades and verify that such work is complete to the point where installation of ROD Suspension System may properly commence.
  2. Verify that the ROD Suspension System may be installed in accordance with project drawings and manufacturer's recommendations.
  3. Note number and location of structural elements that may pose special installation problems such as knee braces, cross bracing, ductwork, heater vents, skylights, windows and doors.

3.02 - Roof Insulation:

A. General:
  1. Install roof insulation in accordance with ROD Suspension System installation instructions.
  2. All facing seams shall be sealed by folding over the facing and stapling every 4 to ensure an integral vapor barrier Any fabrication cuts in facing shall also be stapled.
  3. Pull faced insulation tightly and clamp securely at eaves and floor to prevent wrinkles and allow no mare than 4 of sag between roller tubes spaced 10' apart.
  4. Place back-fill insulation pieces on top of seams between rolls of faced insulation.

3.03 Wall Insulation:

A. General:
  1. Install wall insulation in accordance with ROD Suspension and Wall Insulation systems installation instructions.
  2. All facing seams shall be sealed by folding over the facing and stapling every 4 to ensure an integral vapor barrier Any fabrication cuts in facing shall be staples.
  3. Pull faced insulation tightly and clamp securely at eaves and floor Screw insulation at guts every 3' with 3 1/2" screws and 1 1/2" plastic washers.
  4. If wall is subject to abuse, install a protective wainscot over, or in place of, insulation boards.
  5. Using corner angle, frame in window and door openings. Miter corners of framing.

4.00 Inspection:

A. Upon completion of the installation, visually inspect the work and verify that it has been correctly installed If knee braces were removed or loosened to facilitate installation make sure these are properly reinstalled.
